Written : Saturday 3rd Oct 26 Guildfordians Autumn Rugby Festival: A Fantastic Morning of Rugby, Friendship and Fun
On 27th September Guildfordians welcomed clubs from across the local area for our Guildfordians Autumn Rugby Festival and what a fantastic morning it was at Stoke Park. With around 700 children taking to the pitches, the festival was a wonderful celebration of minis rugby, bringing together players, coaches, families and supporters for a morning packed with rugby, friendship and fun.
We were delighted to welcome the Worshipful the Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Jane Tyson , accompanied by her Consort, who officially opened the festival with a countdown, setting the players off to a fantastic start and chatting to volunteers and children during a walk around.
There was plenty happening away from the pitches too. Our festival village was buzzing throughout the morning, with the BBQ fired up alongside pizza, biltong, ice cream, a coffee van and tuck shop. And for those staying on, the outdoor bar opened at 11am.
Our sponsors Level-Up Fitness and The Travel Professionals added to the fun with activities for visitors to enjoy, while our raffle meant two lucky winners went away with a signed Harlequins shirt or a signed rugby ball . With the DJ booth providing a great soundtrack throughout the morning.
We were also thrilled to welcome two legends of the game later in the morning: Wales and British & Irish Lions legend Adam Jones and former England scrum-half Paul Hodgson , providing a memorable experience for the young players and rugby fans in attendance.
Most importantly, the festival was all about the children — giving hundreds of young players the opportunity to get out on the pitches, play rugby, make friends and enjoy everything that makes our sport so special.
A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers who helped make the day such a success; without you the festival just wouldn't be possible.
From everyone at Guildfordians, thank you for joining us and helping create such a brilliant atmosphere at Stoke Park.
