Friday 25th Oct 24Our talented U18’s Girls started their national cup campaign with a solid win against their great rivals and friends Old Reigatians RFC.
Following a strong first half playing into the wind and up the hill ,there was not much in it at the turn Following try by OR , Lucy Hart Scored a reply for the Guildfordians Girls.
From start of the second half the Girls went up an level and were especially dominant in the scrum, with the front row of Paige W , Keira Day and Skipper Iona Hancock causing the OR Pack back lots of problems with Erin,Estella,Freya and Tae providing some serious ‘grunt’ behind them .
The backs used the ball well with COB,Nell,Carson,Scarlett, Paige T,Jess and Lucy all having some good runs with the ball in had .
With the arrival of Sophie Watson from a torrid rail journey the team went up another level again.3 more Try’s from COB ,Iona and Paige Thomas put the result beyond doubt at 24 v 5.
Special mention to the following girls who stepped up and played not in their normal positions, due to late availability issues and did a fantastic job.
Jess Hillier at 9.
Scarlett King at centre.
Lucy Hart at Full back .
The Team was united from the off and as an OR parent mentioned post match to me post match ‘ ‘Your team turned up to win and were excellently prepared.’
Well done Girls we are so proud of you as always and next up in the National cup is Wimbledon away 17.11.24.
