Saturday 21st December 2024 marked the much anticipated return of colts playing senior rugby at Guildfordians.
In a match arranged for the occasion, a group of current and former colts joined with senior players past and present to take on Chobham 2s at Stoke Park.
Aidan Harvey, Finley Oliver, Max Redding and Robin Tibi made their senior rugby debuts, alongside ‘stalwart’ Toby Davies running out for the third time in senior colours.
Also making a welcome return to Stoke Park, Jack Harding ran out at his spiritual rugby home, and it was good to see Ben Sirl back from the South Coast for a shift in green.
Joining an eclectic band from the senior ranks including a number of players coming out of retirement. Cheered on by enthusiastic supporters including friends, relatives and dignitaries including current and former club chairmen, the home side combined well against Chobham Cannons, running out 28 – 5 winners of a contest much closer than the scoreline suggested
Senior Head Coach remarked “Colts were outstanding today and really enjoyed themselves”. Looking ahead, the coaching team will identify opportunities to continue the integration of colts into the senior ranks for the remainder of the season and beyond.
